Linda was a high school senior student, living in New Jersey. One day she was sucked up by a mysterious cosmic force and dumped into China in the sixteenth century. She was kidnapped and sold to some whorehouse, but saved by a Chinese kungfu girl. Then she was taken into the palace. The emperor wanted her to be his concubine, but his mother objected because Linda was a foreign girl. The emperor's mother married her to her favorite head eunuch. When the eunuch offended the emperor and was put into prison, Linda was exiled to a remote province. She experienced a lot of adventures on the way there and saw many weird traditions that happened only in ancient China such as a dead girl and a dead boy getting married. Almost at the end of her journey, she was carried by a mystic tornado to the region where lived a minority. The people there thought that Linda was a goddess since she fell out of the air unhurt. They worshiped her, but Linda could not do what she wanted, because the people thought a goddess must always sit there quietly to accept the worship of people like the statue in the temple. Linda could not endure it any more and one night she escaped with the girl Danba who was sent to wait on her and worshiped her very much. The head eunuch was pardoned and released from the prison. When he got back home, he sent out a notice to the governors of all the provinces and wanted them to find Linda and send her back to the capital. After she fled from the minority, she was found by a mayor, who sent her to the capital together with Danba. Just as she and Danba were visiting the palace, the mysterious cosmic force took both girls back to America. Linda was glad to be back, but when she went home; her mother did not know her, because she got in America twenty years earlier than her own time. In that year, she was not born yet. Her mother was about her age and just got married. Now what could she do?
